On November 23, 2010, Mayor John C. Tkazyik appointed me, Frank M. Mora, Poughkeepsie City Court Judge. This appointment took effect on January 1, 2011. Prior to my appointment, I had been practicing law in the same Poughkeepsie building in which the law firm of Gellert & Klein, P.C. is located. By law, I am prohibited from practicing law, as an attorney, while I am a sitting judge. Therefore, I was delighted to learn that my competent and dedicated legal assistant, Amy Durkin, was offered and had accepted a position with Gellert & Klein, P.C., to take effect simultaneously with the effective date of my new position as judge. In addition, many of my cases, which were pending at the time of my appointment as judge, were turned over to, and are now being handled by, Gellert & Klein, P.C.
